A Meditation Retreat led by Flint Sparks
with entrusted teacher, Suzanne Kilkus
Many people practice meditation, study Buddhist philosophy, and benefit from working with a spiritual teacher without ever considering what it means to practice as an expression of a personal Vow – a chosen path of life. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or newer to practicing meditation, questions arise in the practice experience that assist in clarifying why you have come to practice in the first place. Suzuki Roshi called this the “in-most request.” This request reflects the deep longing that may have been unknown at first but arises as we move deeper into exploring our true nature.
What is the deep longing that brought you to practice in the first place?
What is your true intention in following this practice path?
How does this intention inform and shape your everyday life?
What does it mean to choose living not only for yourself, but for the benefit of all beings – the bodhisattva path?
These are some of the questions we will address as we investigate the bodhisattva’s path of living by vow—the ordinary life of an awakening human being.
